Clinical Manual Therapy INTENSIVE SERIES

Overview

The new Clinical Manual Therapy (CMT) Certification program has been revised to allow intensive yet comprehensive learning from the 9 days workshop covering the theory and practical of various manual therapy techniques. This CMT program will be taught in a series of 3 workshops, 3 days each, within a 6 months period. The series consist of the following:

  • Module 1.     Clinical Manual Therapy: Spinal Articular Therapy
  • Module 2.     Clinical Manual Therapy: The Upper Quadrant
  • Module 3.     Clinical Manual Therapy: The Lower Quadrant

Why CMT?

The CMT program offered by manualcircle based in Singapore is unique as it provides a clinical reasoning approach to manual therapy from different musculoskeletal fields, osteopathy, pain and rehabilitation science. The program is 80 % hands on with 20 % of lecture and problem-based learning.

Every patient is unique and the CMT program will allow the participants to find out the most probable cause(s) of the client’s symptoms.  Participants will be trained to assess, treat and manage clients with pain and dysfunctions from the articular, muscular, cranium neural and visceral systems.

Module 1: Spinal Articular Therapy (3 days)

The spinal column acts as a container for the spinal cord and visceral structures. It also provides a platform for the attachment of peripheral joints and muscles. Hence the knowledge in understanding the spinal column connections is vital for treating associated neuro muscular skeletal symptoms. This 3 days practical based workshop will examine the manual therapy assessment and treatment of these connections.

Participants will be taught how to:

1. Understand the anatomical connections of the spinal column to the peripheral joints/muscles system.

2. Develop sound clinical reasoning for the use of spinal articular therapy based on evidence informed practice.

3. Develop spinal articular  techniques for spinal articular, discal and dural dysfunction.

Module 2: The Upper Quadrant (3 days)

Beside direct trauma as the main cause, upper limbs symptoms of the shoulder, elbow and wrist are strongly link to the cervical plexus and cranium fascia. Understanding these connections is vital in treatment success. This 3 days practical based workshop will examine the manual therapy assessment and treatment of these connections.

Participants will be taught:

1. Understand the anatomical connections of the spinal and cranium fascia systems to the peripheral joints/muscles system.

2. Develop sound clinical reasoning for the manual assessment and treatment based on evidence informed practice.

3. Develop manual assessment and treatment skills for the structure differential diagnosis of the shoulder, elbow and wrist systems.

4. Develop manual assessment and treatment skills for the cranium and neural systems.

Module 3: The Lower Quadrant (3 days)

Beside direct trauma as the main cause, lower limbs symptoms of the hip, knee and ankle are strongly linked to the lumbar plexus and abdominal visceral fascia. Understanding these connections is vital in treatment success. This 3 days practical based workshop will examine the manual therapy assessment and treatment of these connections.

Participants will be taught:

1. Understand the anatomical connections of the spinal and visceral systems to the peripheral joints/muscles system.

2. Develop sound clinical reasoning for the manual assessment and treatment based on evidence informed practice.

3. Develop manual assessment and treatment skills for structural differential diagnosis of the hip, knee and ankles systems.

4. Develop manual assessment and treatment skills for the visceral and neural systems.
